At the age of six, Ruby Bridges became a Civil Rights activist, as she was the first African-American child to desegregate an all-white school in Louisiana. In order to get to school, Ruby and her mother, were escorted by four federal marshals. In this lesson, students will learn about the Civil Rights Movement by looking through different viewpoints of those who lived during these events. While Ruby was only six, she displayed to the world around her the importance of equality and how to brave in the face of adversity.
